Your spiritual journey begins early in the morning from Chandigarh. Drive through scenic foothills to reach Rishikesh, the serene town on the banks of the Ganges. On arrival, check in to your hotel and take some time to relax. In the evening, visit Triveni Ghat to witness the soulful Ganga Aarti. Spend the night in Rishikesh, preparing for the pilgrimage ahead.
After breakfast, depart for Govindghat, the base point for the Hemkunt Sahib trek. En route, you will pass through Devprayag and Rudraprayag, where sacred rivers meet, and enjoy beautiful Himalayan landscapes. Stop at Joshimath for lunch before continuing to Govindghat. Upon arrival, check into a guesthouse and rest overnight.
Begin your trek early from Govindghat towards Ghangaria, the last village before Hemkunt Sahib. The trail is around 13 km and follows the Pushpawati River, offering breathtaking views of waterfalls and lush valleys. You can hire a mule or porter if needed. Reach Ghangaria by afternoon and check into your accommodation. Spend the evening exploring the small settlement or simply resting to acclimatize.
Start before dawn to trek to Hemkunt Sahib Gurudwara, situated at an altitude of 4,329 meters. The 6 km uphill path is challenging yet immensely rewarding. Pay your respects at the Gurudwara, soak in the spiritual energy, and admire the pristine Hemkund Lake surrounded by snow-capped peaks. After the darshan and langar, trek back to Ghangaria for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, trek down to Govindghat, retracing your steps through the enchanting valley. From Govindghat, drive to Rudraprayag. Upon reaching, check in to your hotel and unwind. You may visit the confluence of the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers in the evening. Overnight stay in Rudraprayag.
After breakfast, commence your return journey to Chandigarh. En route, enjoy the scenic mountain vistas and reminisce about your soul-stirring experience at Hemkunt Sahib. Arrive in Chandigarh by evening, marking the end of your divine pilgrimage.
